Don’t be blinded by a closed mind

So many leaders fail to see clearly because they don’t have an open mind. Whether through ignorance, arrogance, entitlement or fear they are blind to new ideas and the opportunities they can present.

Closed minds frustrate the hell out of me. They stifle innovation, kill progress and left for long enough they destroy morale, reputations, performance and a business. Your best people leave before that happens, because they know what they can achieve has been limited by the closed minds.

I’ve seen it far too much, yet having an open mind is a positive attribute for a leader.

🔷 It’s easier to solve problems with an open mind

When you’re open to all ideas, you have a greater chance of finding the best solution.

🔷 You build teams with an open mind

Individuals have the confidence to speak up, and teams feel engaged and valued.

🔷 You’re more inclusive with an open mind

Whoever has the best idea overrides favouritism and getting the politics right.

🔷 You stay ahead of others with an open mind

If you’re always ready and willing to try new ideas you stay ahead of the game.

🔷 You won’t get stuck with an open mind

Moving forward and finding the way to do that becomes the priority.

🔷 Innovation increases with an open mind

When all ideas are encouraged, people are free to be creative with their suggestions.

A closed mind will hold your leadership back, make sure yours is open and others can see it.

🔶 Seek out and listen to different perspectives and opinions.

🔶 Be open to trying new things.

🔶 Be willing to challenge and change your own thinking.
