The scarcity of time

I’ve written more than once about dealing with the scarcity of time in general practice.
It’s something I felt and still see now working with practices.
"We don't have time", is a constant complaint.
The thing is, that’s not a complete truth. I honestly believe you can find the time if you need to.
Seth Godin's words arrived in my inbox recently and immediately resonated. This is it for general practice.
"It’s easy to announce that we don’t have time for a new skill or a generous act.
But the truth is we probably could find the time.
What we don’t have is energy or motivation.
Find that and you’ll probably find the time."
Yes, it’s extremely busy.
Yes, every minute can be filled.
Yes, we can easily say we don’t have time.
Yet, there’s the same number of hours there’s always been.
It’s just there are simply too many things to do with the time we have.
And often, we make the wrong choices. There are so many things that waste time. That are a choice.
So how do you make better ones?
🔶 Choose what aligns with your goals.
🔶 Protect what serves your purpose.
🔶 Don't do what doesn’t add value—to you, or to your patients.
Not everything deserves your time—and your time is too important to waste.
