Do you know where your primary care business is heading?

I mean really and clearly know, with absolute certainty. A direction you’ve decided, and it’s where you’re steering your practice, PCN or federation to.

Or are you heading in a direction others have dictated.

You do have this choice, and the most important thing leaders can do is to set and share a clear vision for the business.

What the vision is, and how it’s used as a positive force is frequently not understood.

✅ Your vision is arguably your most important business tool.

✅ It can inspire and motivate leaders, managers and the team.

✅ It guides your decision making, strategy and actions.

✅ It will keep you focused on your long-term goals.

Sadly, these opportunities are frequently missed, and the value of a vision often isn’t understood.

If you want to create a vision statement for your primary care business, and if you haven’t you really should, here’s some steps to follow:

1️⃣ Set time aside, a half day for a workshop works best.

2️⃣Appoint a facilitator.

3️⃣ Get everyone to look to the future say 5 or even 10 years ahead.

4️⃣ Consider different aspects of your business, e.g. workforce, services, technology, structures etc.

5️⃣ What do you want them to look like at that future point?

6️⃣ Capture them in positive, broad short, phrases.

7️⃣ Prioritise the most important.

8️⃣ Combine them all into a short, simple and positive statement that captures them as an aspirational description of your future.

The above will work as a guide, but if you would like to discuss a plan tailored for you, with expert facilitation, then get in touch.
