Do you need to have a destination in mind or is it enough to be moving forward?

Some people have a clear 5-year goal, or a definite idea of where they want to be in 10 years’ time.

That works for some, but I’ve always found what works for me is ’am I moving forward and do I see opportunities’. It keeps me motivated. I keep developing and learning. It gives me variety and develops a broad skill set.

In the past when I‘ve felt stationary, I’ve moved on, even if it meant taking a risk. On the very rare occasion I’ve done that, it’s moved me forward and opened up new opportunities.

If a fixed idea of where you’re heading is right for you that’s great. But for others, moving forward and opportunities is the better goal.

Are you a destination or a moving forward person?
