I’m continually presented with opportunities to learn.

I find I’m continually presented with opportunities to learn. It might be something new, or other times a lesson repeated, that I hadn’t quite fully learnt.

One such lesson I think I might have finally taken on board over the last year is because of bigger, more important and challenging things I wanted to achieve.

No one will do it for you, you have to do it yourself.

It’s a lesson that’s often presented to us when the going is tough, or challenges are big. For the same reasons it’s one that we don’t always learn quickly or easily, if ever.

When you look at the challenges being faced, I’d say it’s also an important lesson for primary care right now. Practices and PCNs have a multitude of problems they need to solve.

🔶 A need to increase income.

🔶 A need to meet rising staff salary costs.

🔶 A need to be able to recruit.

🔶 A need to keep up with regulatory demands.

🔶 A need for bigger and better premises.

🔶 A need to meet increasing patient demand.

🔶 A need to work together more effectively.

🔶 A need for more influence across the NHS.

These are just some of the challenges you might be facing. They’re tough to solve, which might make them intimidating to start. It’s also the case that;

No one will do it for you, you have to do it yourself.

It’s tough for everyone in primary care right now, with no sign of any improvement. Everyone is looking for help which may not come soon, if at all, and it may not be the help you want or need.

Better to learn now, ‘no one will do it for you, you have to do it yourself’.
